The college was founded on 30th September, 1962 at Ashaka in Aboh division of Midwestern state of Nigeria. The name of the college Mater-De, is a Latin word translated to English as Mother of God. The Motto DEO SEMPER PLACERE is translated to English to mean -vhatever you are doing always please God. It is basically a Catholic institution with skeletal Pentecostal influence often accommodated. The College Anthem LITTLE KING SO FAIR AND SWEET is still in vogue. The pioneer principal of the school is Rev. Fr. Ojefua ....

The College stared with three (3) houses but presently two (2) houses has been added and they are listed as follows In ascending order,

The College Old Boys Association had' some hi-cups in the beginning hence the actual date of its commencement cannot be ascertained.
The succession of the presidents (Leaders) of the Association could be traced from the reign of Chief Eric Anigala who galvanized and sensitized members. on the need for the
Association to form, grow and mature to fruition. lt therefore behoves the students of history to chronicle the leadership of the Association from the era of Chief E. Anigala thus:
